Some time back, he had received divine intimation that if he kept his three-yearold son in an underground enclosure at his dera, the boy would attain immortality.<br /><br />Under intense family watch lest he tried to surface and chanting mantras, little Mantar stayed in a cramped pen for almost a month till villagers became suspicious when Sukhbir Singh began speaking incoherently about his intimations of immortality.<br /><br />On Thursday, Priyank Bharti, Jaitu SDM, led a police team in rescuing the child, over eleven years before a miracle was to allegedly transform the boy.<br /><br />The boy''s parents have been given the custody of the child after a stern warning.

No legal action is planned against the father keeping in view the child''s welfare.<br /><br />It was two years ago that Sukhbir Singh, who dabbles in preparing "magic potions", had constructed a dera in Rana Albel Singh.<br /><br />The lure of money and fame "babas" enjoy in rural areas was too tempting.
